How Experienced Are Fulham Lofts?

We’ve been in the loft conversion business for over two decades. In that time, we’ve finished hundreds of builds. What sets us apart? Simple. Most of our crew have been with us from the early days. They’ve stuck around — and that means they work like a team, not a bunch of strangers thrown together on a site.

We’ve got proper tradesmen on board. Builders who’ve been doing this all their lives. Roofers who know every angle. Joiners, architects, electricians — you name it. No outsourcing. No guesswork. Just a full team who know how to see a job through, start to finish.

But don’t think we’re all set in our ways. We also give younger workers a chance to learn the trade. They train on site, work alongside the old hands, and leave with the skills to go far. It’s good for them. It’s good for us. And it keeps the standard high.

Absolutely. The architects are part of the team and match the company’s quality. Our architects are associated with or members of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Planning

Once we’ve got the go-ahead, most people are keen to crack on. We get it. But there’s still some paperwork to sort before the build can begin. On average, you’re looking at a start date around 6 to 8 weeks after the approvals are in. It’s not instant, but it gives us just enough time to get everything lined up properly.

It depends. It is possible you will need planning permission from the local authorities. We can take care of this and liaise with Building Control.

This document confirms that all the right permissions are in place and the work can legally start. Oddly enough, you don’t have to have it — but we strongly recommend it. Without it, you could lose value on the property later. It’s also handy backup if there are any planning disputes while the build’s underway. In short, it’s worth having.

Yes. We can work throughout the year.

It depends on the make and age of your current fuse box. Rules around home electrics have tightened, and older boxes don’t always cut it. The only way to know for sure is to have it checked. If it doesn’t meet the standard, it’ll have to be replaced. No way round it.

This depends on the boiler you’ve already got. The rules aren’t as strict as they are for fuse boxes, but the boiler still needs to cope. If it’s too small, you could end up with weak water pressure or patchy hot water. We’ll check this during the first site visit and let you know where you stand.

We don’t mind saying it — we’re one of the best in the loft conversion business. And we back that up with solid customer service. When our clients are kept in the loop, the job runs smoother for everyone. That’s why we make communication a priority.

Our project managers will keep in touch at least twice a week with updates on the job’s progress. While the work’s underway, they’ll also make sure everything on site meets the standard we expect at Fulham Lofts — no shortcuts, no slip-ups.

All the timber we use is responsibly sourced. We make sure it comes from managed, sustainable forests — no cutting corners. Our supplier, Forests Forever, is part of the Timber Trade Federation, which works to protect forests and push for better practices across the industry. Want to know more? Visit www.ttf.co.uk.

Peace of mind matters. That’s why we keep our pricing upfront — no hidden costs, no nasty surprises. Everything’s laid out clearly before the job begins. We also include a ten-year insurance-backed guarantee with every project. No one else offers that. We’re fully insured, and the whole point is simple: we take on the stress so you don’t have to. You get a loft conversion built properly, with nothing to chase.

Work Duration

It depends on the property and how smooth the paperwork goes. If the building officer or planning department raise questions, that can slow things down. But for most loft conversions — unless it’s a big or complicated job — you’re looking at around 6 to 12 weeks.

And it’s not just building work. We’ve got to fit the stairs, floors, electrics and plumbing too. It all takes time to get right.

You won’t need to move out while the work’s being done. We do our best to keep noise, dust and disruption to a minimum — though there will be some, of course. The good news is that most of the early work takes place outside, so any mess or noise inside your home is limited to a much shorter part of the job.
